New Ferry Port Opens in Patras

On 14 July 2011, Don Madge wrote that from 11 July 2011, the new (southern) port is in operation at Patras in the Northwest Peloponnese, the main ferry port for Greece from Italy. See:

The following link gives a map showing access routes to the new port. We hope that they soon complete (or perhaps start) the new link road to the port from the excellent Patras bypass. Manoeuvring in the narrow back streets of Patras, hassled by illegal immigrants trying to steal the bicycles off the motorhome rack and climb on the roof, was never a good start or ending to a visit to Greece!

We understand that all trans-Adriatic ferries will operate from the new port, that is ferries to and from Brindisi, Bari, Ancona and Venice, operated by the following lines:

Minoan
ANEK
Superfast
Blue Star
Ventouris
Agoudimos
Endeavour
European Sealines
