All the sites had hook up and basic sanitation facilities unless otherwise stated.

GERMANY

Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz: Campingplatz Berg. Quiet and close to the E56/A3 motorway between Nurnberg and Regensburg.

SLOVAKIA

Bratislava: Autocamping Zlate Piesky. NE of city on R.61/E75 (exit E75 for Zlate Piesky). A bit run-down, with facilities shared by the public using lakeside swimming beaches. Security. Take tram into city.

HUNGARY

Szeged: Sziksosfurdo (Naturist) Camping. 10 miles north of town alongside route 5. Lakeside pitch, noisy. Better one in city centre by river (Partfurdo Camping) looked good for vans but I didn't use it.

ROMANIA

Timisoara: Camping International. Good site to north side of city.

Calafat: TIR Park. By River Danube beach on border, for ferry to Bulgaria. Scruffy but security OK.

BULGARIA

Rila: Hotel Baddact. 3 km north from Rila village. Tiny van space but nice mountain location for monastery.

Rila: Kop Camping. Very run down and primitive but only 1 km north of Rila Monastery.

Plovdiv: '9km Motel Camp'. Nine km west along route 8/E80. Scruffy and primitive but free swimming at pool next door (also noisy club next door until all hours).

TURKEY

Selimpasa, Istanbul: Istanbul Mocamp. 35 miles/1.5 hrs west along route 100 from Istanbul. Excellent, clean with all facilities and pool.

Istanbul: Aire Sultanahmet. Classic, secure van stop on edge of sea by Sultanahmet Mosque area. Primitive toilet/water - no hook-up.

Kabatepe, Eceabat (Gallipoli): Kum Camping. Good with all basic facilities clean and beach 50m away. Wifi.

Troy: Troia Pension. Small but clean and pleasant Pension/campsite almost next to Archeological site. Wifi.

Oren: Atlin Camp Motel. South of Edremit, 1 km west of E87. Beachside camp with clean facilities. Signed from centre. Wifi.

Yeni Foca: Sazlica Beach Camp. Pretty basic site on beach, crammed with pre-Ramadan picnickers.

Pamucak, Selcuk (Ephesus): Dereli Motel Camping. Just down the road from Ephesus. Lovely beach site, clean. Wifi.

Pamukkale (Travertines): Pamukkale Mocamp. Tiny but excellent site with pool. Close to Travertines.

Oludeniz, Fethiye: Sugar Beach Camping. Good beach site, 15 minute walking distance west of town.

Koycegiz, Dalyan: Koycegiz Camping. TERRIBLE! Filthy, unkempt site with broken facilities - don't go!

Dalyan: Ekin Klup Motel Camp. 6 km east of Dalyan on road to Iztuzu. Lovely restaurant site within 4 km of beach. Clean facilities and cheap food.
