The Ongoing Greek Crisis
Barry and Margaret Williamson
6 January 2015
As yet another crisis unfolds for Greece, coming to some sort of climax in the
elections of January 25th, we really value being here, sharing some of the sad
and often tragic stories of Greek friends and acquaintances as they bear the
brunt of the failed imposition of neo-liberal economics on this semi-feudal
society. Certainly, young Alexis Tsipras and his far left Syriza party would
get our vote here, as would his equivalent if it should ever exist in the UK!
The following website is carrying the full story of the current crisis from its
development during December 2014, through its current state and on to the range
of possible outcomes. You will discover that resistance in the UK is but a weak
and muted response to their economic crisis compared to that in this Balkan country.
Perhaps the British people are subject to propaganda that is so deeply-rooted
and insidious that it keeps them firmly in their state of delusion and distraction.
Potentially, the decision of the Greek people at the end of the month will have
repercussions throughout Europe. It may be a wake-up call for all those who have
for too long been half asleep! http://www.greekcrisis.net/
This website was created by Professor Aristides Hatzis of the University of Athens, after many requests by his
students who seek a source of reliable analysis of Greek current affairs. Its
aim is to post commentary and reports published mainly in the major US, European and Greek media and to
encourage rigorous discussion.
Starting in the middle of December when the current crisis began, the website
contains whole articles from the following sources: Financial Times, Guardian,
Wall Street Journal, Der Spiegel, Bloomberg, New York Times, CNN, The
Economist, Washington Post, BBC News and Reuters.
