Motorhome Security
Another Use for a Rape Alarm

Christine Strawson
August 2011

Christine offers the following idea for securing the motorhome's cab doors. It is a development of Martin Wiltshire's use of the windchime!

 Christine writes:

“I read Martin Wiltshire's account of being broken into and then having balaclaved thugs threaten him in which he mentions using a windchime in the centre of his cab door ties. We've don't usually tie the cab doors together, but I do when we're on an aire (or more often an Italian sosta) that doesn't feel quite "right". Then, I rig a piece of tape between the doors with a rape alarm in the centre. I wrote an account of eight possible uses for a rape alarm for Motorhome Facts and describe it there:

We know it works ! One night we had the warning on the dashboard that the cab door wasn't firmly closed so went outside to close it, opened it fully first and...well it would have woken the dead and certainly it made dogs bark all over Tivoli !  Martins's article has made me consider what we would do next if we did wake up to find it going off and a thief inside  - supposing he could get past the normal clutter!”
